How They'll Use the Award

West Heritage Elementary School is a TK-5th grade public school in the Etiwanda School District. Our school currently serves 690 students. If we were fortunate to receive this grant, we would be able to use it to impact the students during the instructional day and with extended learning opportunities beyond the school day. The funds would be allocated towards year two of our math training. This year we focused on MATH FLUENCY and we will be focusing on TEACHING CLARITY during the 2019-2020 school year. This will include (6) training sessions for our teachers as well as student manipulatives taught during the trainings that would be used for differentiated instruction and high interest mathematical activities for our students. In addition, this would be able to assist in supporting our extended day learning opportunity for our BEFORE SCHOOL intervention that meets twice a week throughout portions of the school year.

Thank you for considering our request as we continue to serve the students in the city of Fontana. At West Heritage, we are seeing strong growth in the area of mathematics and look to continue to improve our instructional practices and resources for our students.
