How They'll Use the Award

At Village we are dedicated to student enrichment through hands on learning (Centers) and through experiences, like sending our 5th grade classes to a week at Science Camp at Walden West in Saratoga, CA. Our Centers programs augments classroom lessons with hands on learning in a small group setting. Center curriculum is determined by grade, lower grade (K-2) and upper grade (3-5). Students rotate through the different center programs throughout the school year. The centers are led by parent volunteers and funded by the PTA. Village would use the grant to update our Centers Program to include more STEAM based curriculum; Lego Engineering, drawing & designing circuits, finance awareness, outdoor photography and continue the pottery and 3-D printing centers. The money would also be applied to gaps in funding for the 5th grade science camp. Village does not receive any school district money for this experience. Our 5th graders take the initiative to run fundraising campaigns throughout the school year to pay for the camp. When they fall short, the PTA covers the difference through our other fundraising efforts. The total camp costs are approximately $12,000 (so every little bit helps). With grants like MyScholarDollars, we can continue giving our children an extraordinary school experience and guide them into being lifelong learners. Thank you for your consideration.
