How They'll Use the Award

Placer Elementary is creating a new STEM Learning Lab to provide the right environment for creative learning and thinking. The maker space is flexible to allow instruction from a wide range of students in K-8. We would leverage the funds to purchase equipment such as robotics, 3D printers, coding curriculum and other materials to allow students to unleash their creative minds in practical application of STEM learning and beyond. Our students will strengthen their problem solving and critical thinking which are core to STEM learning. The flexible maker space will allow them to work within teams collaboratively and gain peer learning. These skills will enhance their educational journey at Placer and provide a foundation of life skills for future success. The funds would also be used to enrich the staff with additional opportunities to immerse in STEM and how to best leverage the maker space to maximize learning. Our students and staff are ready to take the next step in their educational experience.
