How They'll Use the Award

Multnomah Street Elementary is a school of many schools and programs. We have the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program, Environmental Science Magnet, Highly Gifted/Gifted/High Ability Magnet, and the neighborhood school comprised of students from the El Sereno community. We are an eclectic group of 430 learners who come from a diverse population.

For the past 19 years, Multnomah Street Elementary has offered our 5th graders a rare and unique learning experience in the beautiful Yosemite National Park. Every Spring, our students attend a 5-day overnight field trip to the Nature Bridge science camp. The hands on learning experience have allowed our students to experience first hand the ecosystem, develop a love and respect for nature and learn how to be a good steward of our environment.

The grant will be used to help fund the remaining balance due for this year tuition of $12,000.

Beyond the academic benefits, good friendships have been forged and in turn strengthen our community. Students from previous years have returned to share how much the trip has impacted their lives in positive ways. Thank you for your support.
