How They'll Use the Award

The funds will be used towards the purchase of new document projectors and cameras in classrooms as well as the science and choral music rooms, library and auditorium at Don Benito. As our teachers have become proficient with technology, it has become a core tool for classroom instruction. 21st century learning skills include daily use and integration of technology into the classroom. Teachers are using projectors and cameras to not only display content to students, but to create interactive opportunities for students to engage with technology. Teachers rely on these tools to facilitate lessons with students and offer opportunities to present information they have studied in a multimedia way. This includes the use of apps to check for comprehension and to project student work. Additionally, technology allows teachers to share information in a format that all students can access and introduce them to important 21st century skills. These tools offer more experiential learning. As an example, students can experience different weather events such as hurricanes or engage on a live chat with an astronaut in outer space. Finally, these resources are used with our enrichment programs including the music program. The tools allow for projecting rhythms, melodic line and other components of music literacy. As technology and learning merge, our goal is to provide these resources for both instruction and learning important life skills for our students. A Scholar Dollars grant would help enrich and prepare our students with the foundation skills required for future success including college and career.
