  1. Which schools are eligible to participate?

    To be eligible, your school must be a public or charter school in the State of California and serves students in the 8th grade or lower in one of the following school structures:
    • Kindergarten through 6th grade
    • Kindergarten through 8th grade
    • 6th grade through 8th grade
    • 7th grade through 8th grade
  2. What does a school do if it meets the eligibility requirements but is not listed?

    If your school is not listed but meets the eligibility requirements, contact ScholarShare by visiting the “Contact Us” link at www.myscholarsdollars.com.
  3. How and when does an eligible school register to participate in this program?

    Between 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) on February 1, 2017 and 8:00 p.m. PT on February 22, 2017 (“registration period”), a school representative may visit www.myscholardollars.com and ‘register’ the school by clicking on the “register” button next to the school name or entering the school’s 14-digit County-District-School (CDS) Code.
  4. Who should schools contact if they are having problems registering their school?

    Eligible schools encountering problems with registering should contact ScholarShare by visiting the “Contact Us” link at www.myscholardollars.com.
  5. How are the winning schools determined, how many winning schools will be selected, and how much will each of the winning schools receive in grant amount?

    An individual profile page will be established for all eligible schools who register during the “registration period.”  Registered schools who accumulate the highest number of votes in each of the school enrollment size categories below during the “voting period” will receive the grant amounts listed below.

  6. When does the voting period take place?

    The voting period starts on March 1, 2017 at 8:00 am Pacific Time and ends on March 24, 2017 at 8:00 pm PT.
  7. Who will be able to vote and what do they need to do?

    Voters must be at least 18 years old and provide the required information in the form and may only vote once per email address per day.
  8. What can schools do to encourage community participation and get the highest number of votes?

    Schools can use any resources available to them to encourage people to vote including but not limited to partnering with your Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and other community based organizations, posting information on your school website and social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), distributing flyers to parents and other members of the community.  For your convenience, a Toolkit of resources for schools to use is available at www.myscholardollars.com/toolkit/.
  9. When will the winning schools be determined and when and how will they be notified?

    Winning schools will be selected and contacted by April 3, 2017 by telephone and/or email at the telephone number and email address provided at the time of registration.  A list of the winning schools will also be posted on www.myscholardollars.com by April 3, 2017.
  10. What can the grant funds be used for?

    During the registration process, participating schools will be required to clearly describe their school’s intended use of the grant funds should they win.  Grant funds may be utilized for any program or service that the schools deem as enriching the current educational experiences of students, which may include musical instruments, computers, library books, sports equipment, field trips, tutoring labs, science and technology and math instruction, student counseling, clubs, and many other services, programs or activities.
  11. Is there a deadline of when the winning school should use the grant funds?

    We encourage winning schools to utilize awarded grant funds within one year of receiving the grant.
