How They'll Use the Grant:
Sutter Middle School has approximately 1200 seventh and eighth grade students. We are a high achieving school and as a result often do not receive the resources that are allocated to lower performing schools. Despite our academic achievement, we still have a significant need for additional resources and support. For the upcoming school year, we have over 41% of our students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, yet we still do not qualify for Title I funding, which has an immense impact on what we are able to offer our students in terms of interventions and enrichment. We want to be able to provide the resources and technology that our students need. We have an exceptionally hard working and talented staff that does what they can with our limited resources, but we need help. If we should win, we would use the grant money to purchase technology for our students, upgrade our library resources, purchase math supplemental materials to focus on math intervention, as well as to help us fund our tutoring program in all core academic subjects. In addition to providing our students with a first class educational experience, we also work hard to prepare our students for college and career. All of our students participate in a partnership program between SCUSD schools and the California college system where they create their own profile and are exposed to college and career pathways starting in the 7th grade. We also reach out to families to make sure they are informed about how to support their child as they navigate the educational and financial aid process on the road to college. Sutter Middle School is a community that is committed to providing our students with an amazing middle school experience, and giving them the tools they need to be successful in high school and beyond. Please vote for us and help us achieve this goal!
