How They'll Use the Grant:

Shannon Ranch Elementary School will use the ScholarDollars grant to help fund the construction of a track for running, jogging, and/or waking around the perimeter of our school’s grass field.

Our students will use the track during school hours and extracurricular activities, such as for Physical Education, running laps to earn their Marathon Medal, Track Team, Running Club, and our annual all-school jog-a-thon. Additionally, we will invite our community to use the track during non-school hours. Shannon Ranch Elementary is in a residential neighborhood and our field is a popular place for youth recreational sports teams to practice. We believe the track will enhance our students’ Physical Education and our school’s value to our neighborhood.

We have worked with our school’s PTA and school district to design a long-lasting, limited-maintenance track. The track is proposed to be 8-feet wide and be constructed of decomposed granite. A 6-inch concrete curb will separate the track from the grass field. The estimated cost for the track project is $20,000.
